LVJUSD Schools

Teaching and Learning

LVJUSD is an award-winning district that serves more than 13,000 students in TK through 12th grade at nine elementary campuses, two K-8 schools, three middle schools, two comprehensive high schools, one continuation high school and an alternative school. The District features International Baccalaureate Programs, a Green Engineering Academy, Dual Immersion Program, a Science, Technology, Engineering & Math (STEM) pathway at several sites and a STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Math) program.

All grade levels in our district provide a curriculum that follows the standards defined by the California Department of Education (CDE). LVJUSD has curriculum experts who select materials that align with each subject and grade level’s learning goals. For detailed information, please visit the CDE California Content Standards webpage.

Health and Wellness

LVJUSD is committed to providing a broad, practical approach to assisting students and employees in maintaining their mental and emotional health.  Here is a quote from the Mental Health page on the district website.

“Our goal is to have a comprehensive, curated mental health website for our students and families that includes contacts for our local mental health partners. In addition, this website will include definitions and warning signs, book recommendations from the Livermore Public Library, videos and podcasts chosen specifically to aid in opening dialogue and providing a path forward regarding mental health concerns.”

Besides information on the website, LVJUSD middle and high schools sponsor Wellness Centers on the campuses that serve students’ immediate needs during the school day. The district has created a Health and Wellness Committee comprised of board members, administrators, staff, and select community members.

For a sampling of the schools’ wellness centers, please visit the East Avenue Middle School Wellness Center and the Livermore High School Wellness Center.

School Accountability Report Cards (SARCs)

Each school creates a School Accountability Report Card annually to provide information to the community. This allows public comparison of schools for student achievement, environment, resources, and demographics. Visit a school’s website to read the report card for that specific school.

School Choice

LVJUSD has school attendance boundaries which can be viewed here.  An open enrollment policy is in effect, in which students can, if space is available, attend their school of choice.

Transfers of current LVJUSD students from one school to another, or intradistrict transfers, are allowed and usually granted if there is space in the grade level requested.

Parent & Community Involvement

Family and community involvement in schools makes our district better and stronger. Every level of involvement, from assisting in school classrooms, to serving on school parent organizations and committees, to providing oversight to district funding programs, helps to build a balanced and robust school district. Visit this LVJUSD website page to find the ways you can contribute your talents and resources.  This page also contains valuable parent education resources in Livermore Learns.
